ABOUT

The NPC (Network of Parliamentary Committees for Economy Finance and European integration of Western Balkans) was established as a non-formal network in 2009 with the aim of strengthening parliamentary cooperation among parliaments from the Western Balkan region and the goal to promote competitiveness, economic growth and European integration.

Initially the Network included the committees on economy and finance and over time it decided to include the committees on European integration. Following several years of regional parliamentary cooperation in 2013 NPC decided to set up a non-formal voluntary governance and organisational structure.

The Network holds no international legal subjectivity, it is not an international organisation and each participant in the Network speaks on their own behalf. The participation of committees and MPs in the Network is on a voluntary and inclusive basis and in line with established regional initiative participation practices.

The network is governed by a network board of MPs from the western Balkans parliaments and it’s represented by a rotating chairperson. The NPC board meet every three months. Network membership guidelines, rules of procedures and a work plan for NPC were also developed in 2013.

Currently the Network includes 25 parliamentary committees from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia. The work of the NPC is supported by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy under its Western Balkans programme.
