The Board of NPC meets in Podgorica under the Montenegrin Chairmanship

On June  16th 2014,  meeting of the Board of the Network of Parliamentary Committees on Economy, Finance and European Integration took place in Podgorica, Montenegro.  Board members reviewed past and agreed on the activities that the network should organize in the period ahead.

The Head of the Western Balkans program, Mr. Emil Atanasovski, presented the annual program and financial report for the work of the network in the period between April 01st 2013 and March 31st 2014, providing to the board members a detailed information about all of the network activities in this time period.

A special focus was put on the need for ensuring sustainability for the work of the network after March 31st 2015, and the board members discussed the different models that can be used in order to achieve the required sustainability. A position was taken that the board members will look for opportunities of ensuring sustainability through the parliaments, while the Western Balkans office in Skopje should look for alternative sources of funding through EU and other funds.

The Presiding officer of the Scottish Parliament, Rt Hon Tricia Marwick MSP, addressed the board members and expressed the willingness to support the work of the NPC and the parliaments of the Western Balkans through transfer of good practices, experience and know how.

Looking forward to the upcoming period, board members discussed how to best organize the upcoming regional conference on: “Parliamentary oversight of Energy policies and Energy Investments” that was scheduled to take place on September 6-7th in Montenegro.

The latest newsletter for the work of the NPC as well as the other communication tools and videos that were prepared as part of the past work were presented in front of the members of the board at his meeting.
